in preperation of the World Cup Qualifying Tournament played in Stellenbosch.

Recently The Dutch Women’s Cricket Team under the management of coaches Jim Boddé and former professional cricketer and Dutch Captain Roland Lefèvbre, decided to stay at WedgeView during their last preparation before the ICC Women’s World Cup Cricket Qualifying Tournament.

We are proud to have hosted these talented cricket ladies from The Netherlands. They started the qualifying Tournament very well, beating Papoa New Guinnee and Bermuda in their first 2 games. Then they lost their 3^rd game against favourites South Africa, but they still managed to get into the semi-final against Pakistan.

This was the big game of the tournament for the Dutch ladies because if they would be able to beat Pakistan they would qualify for the next World Cup in Down Under (Australia). Unfortunately the Pakistani put a score on the board which turned out to be to high for the Dutch battingside.

The Dutch then only played for the 3^rd and 4^th spot and lost at the end to Ireland.

We were honestly impresses with some of the talent and level of cricket, the different Women’s players and teams showed and we hope to see the Dutch Women’s cricket Team again in South Africa to develop and improve their game.
